Snook Cycling

Based in County Durham, England we are a family and friends ‘team’ who cycle for fun while looking to complete as many of the famous one-day Classic and Tour climbs as is possible. The team is based in Bowburn, County Durham – only a few miles from the birthplace of former World Champion cyclist Tom Simpson. It was the legend of Simpson that got the team together in the first place, starting with C2C followed quickly by the world famous Giant of Provence, Mont Ventoux…

Raid Pyreneen 2022

Starting on Saturday September 10th 2022, TSC will attempt to complete the famous Raid Pyrénéen – a 720km ride across the Pyrenees, starting in the Atlantic coast town of Henaye and finishing on the Mediterranean coast in Cerbere. The ride crosses includes more than 12,000 metres of ascending over  no less than 18 Mountains, or cols, and is planned to be completed in less than 6 days. The most famous cols include the Marie Blanque, Aubisque, Solour, Aspin, Peyresourde and the most used climb in Tour de France history – the mighty Col du Tourmalet.

TSC will be using the challenge to raise money for two charities – Mental Health UK and British Red Cross – fundraising details will be added to the page nearer the time.

Our biggest achievements to date have been getting 5 team members into the Cingles du Mont Ventoux club, a challenge that requires 3 summits of the baldy mountain in less than 24hrs. Since then we have also completed a double ascent of Alpe d’Huez, rode the Paris-Roubaix and Ronde van Vlaanderen Sportives, cycled C2C in a day twice, summited many Tour de France climbs as well as participating in several Sportives and fun rides around the UK.

Our team is powered by the Swift Motorhome, which you have no doubt seen in locations such as the Col du Hartside, Le Mont Tanhill and Alpe Bollihope. While the van is perfect for our current team size, we are always interested in offers of new vans as we expand, and particularly those with draft lager (two pumps) interest us greatly.
